Thinking About My Blog’s Direction

I’ve been doing quite a bit of thinking about the direction of my blog recently. I’ve kind of drifted around in what I’m writing about between tech, sports, church, religion, and my personal life. I don’t really feel like doing that anymore. I’d like to focus more on one or two topics, but I haven’t landed on what that would be yet.

So, I’d like to hear from you. If you’re a reader of my blog, the few of you out there, what do you think I should do? Let me know in the comments.

Just popping in to say you must be doing something right. Google Analytics says you’ve had 1,519 unique visitors

Good point Josh. Since I’ve been blogging for over four years I have figured a few things out. I guess I’m just not feeling like the direction I’m currently going matches with who I really am. That’s what I’m thinking about.

Well, I’m interested in all the topics you cover with the exception of sports. But, if you want to narrow it down, I think tech would be a good choice.

Thanks Joyce! I’ve pretty much decided to offload my sports writing (which is almost exclusively dedicated to the Mavs) over to a new blog I’m starting next month MavsCrunch.com.

What aspects of my tech writing have you like the most?

All of it, of course! :-)

I enjoy hearing about new tech toys you have, what you like or don’t like about them. I like it when you have shared “how to” info as well as “here’s how I use this in my life” type posts.

I line up with what Kent says. If you *didn’t* have the other two sites as outlets, I would think you just keep on truckin’ with the varied topics as you have. After all, that’s who you are.

That said, I would be okay with cross-postings from productiveministry.com and here, since a lot of what you’d likely do over there is technology-related as well.

I like the fact that you wrote “keep on truckin” as a true Enidite would.

Beyond that I appreciate the feedback and I’m looking forward to the official launch of SonOfaDoug.com if that ever gets of the ground.

Ooops. Wrong Chris for the blog.

My 2 cents: If you operate mavscruch.com and productiveministry.com then it would only be natural for you to blog about a life with technology. Then you have an outlet for all topics that interest you.

Good points and kind of what I’m leaning toward doing. When are you going to start blogging with all the spare time you have?
